We got in touch with The K9 Coach, when we were looking to for a dog trainer.
Brian was very helpful. He gave us practical dog training advice and coached us through housetraining, teaching commands and walking calmly on lead.
He was also able to answer our queries and advise on things like settling her in, getting her used to being alone, the type of food to give her and how to use it in her training.
Brian has always explained things in a very straightforward way, making it easy to understand for our whole family.
We have found him great value for money and the fact that we know we can get in touch at any time, gives us real peace of mind.
Scamp is my first dog. I got him, on the advice of my Occupational Therapist, after suffering a severe head injury.
He gave me a reason and the confidence to get outside again.
But as a rescue dog, who'd had 4 homes before me, he had a lot of behavioural issues.
He used to chase and bark at birds, cats and passersby.
When people came to the house he would get over excited and bite.
He also had lots of handling issues and would pull on lead.
Brian was the third dog trainer we saw. He has worked with us on all of these behaviour issues and the difference is amazing.
Nowadays I can stop and feed the ducks, while Scamp watches calmly. I walk him on a loose lead without pulling.
He is much more comfortable with handling and enjoys seeing the vet (who he used to hate) and he no longer bites.
The K9 Coach's advice, support and coaching sessions have helped me understand why Scamp does what he does and how to train him and how to change unwanted behaviours.
I'm so pleased we worked with Brian at the K9 coach to help us choose the right dog for us.
We were first time owners and while there is a ton of valuable information out there on the internet, it's really hard to know what you really need to look for.
Brian took us through all the things we needed to think about - from finding the right breeder, to figuring out how we would train the dog, to the little things we hadn't even thought about like where to put the crate and how to help the children get on with our new dog the best.
Brian is incredibly thoughtful but smart enough to tell you the things you need to hear - fantastic stuff and worth every penny.
Our Boxer Ginger came to us after a really rough start in life. She had been abandoned at about a year old on the side of a road.
She was incredibly nervous and shut down but we had always owned dogs and we were sure we could help her.
After a couple of months of no improvement, our vet advised putting her on medication. We were reluctant to do that without exhausting all other options and a friend recommended the K9 Coach.
Brian helped us understand exactly how and why Ginger had become so withdrawn and anxious and what we could do to help,.
The changes he suggested were straightforward and practical.. We were surprised at the difference they made and how quickly they made a difference.
He coached us on how to get her to play because she didn't seem to know how.Within weeks she came along in leaps and bounds (literally). She now chooses to come and be near us and has learned to love playing with us.
She can still be a bit timid with strangers, but we are delighted with her progress.
